Every member that walks into Union League Boys & Girls Clubs has unlimited potential to serve as a responsible, active citizen who nurtures the community in which they live. Our members have the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs focused on leadership, civic engagement, and making our communities a better place.
Good Character & Citizenship
In partnership with Gillette and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Union League Boys & Girls Clubs is proud to provide Passport to Manhood for our young boys ages 8 to 14, helping them to develop and mature into young men. Passport to Manhood engages young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership, and positive behavior. Each participant receives a “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Each of the program’s 14 sessions use interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. Passport to Manhood capstones with a service project where boys learn the importance of service to their community.
SMART Girls is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education, and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls in three age groups, spanning from ages 8 to 18. Through dynamic sessions, participatory activities, field trips, and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care, and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
Keystone Club is the Boys & Girls Clubs’ ultimate teen program, providing leadership development opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18. Youth participate in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation, and community service. Keystone Clubs aim to have a positive impact on members, the Club, and the community. Thank you to Aaron’s and Boys & Girls Clubs of America for partnering to bring Keystone Club to our members at Union League Boys & Girls Clubs.
Torch Club is a “club within the Club”, helping to meet the special character-development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their life. Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which young people develop and strengthen their 21st-century leadership skills, giving them a firm foundation of good character and integrity. Torch Club members elect officers and work together to implement projects in four focus areas: service to Club and community; education; health and fitness; and social recreation. We are proud to partner with Old Navy and Boys & Girls Clubs of America to offer Torch Club to our youth.
Every youth needs a mentor to guide them through their formative years as they are building great futures. Are you interested in serving as a mentor to a ULBGC youth member? If so, contact Hector Perez at h.perez@ulbgc.org.
