The Union League Boys & Girls Clubs cut the ribbon and unveiled their new Teen Center on July 30th, made possible through a partnership between Major League Baseball(MLB) and Boys & Girls Clubs of America(BGCA).  This space will provide a home for teens in Pilsen to attend after school each day at Club One on W. 19th Street.  The ribbon cutting was attended by VIPs such as Tom Brasuell VP of Community Affairs for Major League Baseball, Kerry Wood Chicago Cubs alum, Jennifer Nowak Cubs Charities Programs, Jeannine Bogart of Chicago Epic Design, Craig Labus the Board President of the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs along with Club One Alumni, Ed Cooper the President of Union League and Mary Ann Mahon Huels the President & CEO of the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs, and Hector Perez the Vice President of Club Services for the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and of course Clark the Chicago Cubs mascot.  In addition, teens from the center and club leaders also attended.

Highlights of the new Club One Teen Center include; three lounge and gaming areas, updated study space with new lap tops and headphones, reading nook, and updated program space.  The remodel took more than 3 months to complete and was designed by Chicago Epic Design.  A big thank you to Chicago Epic Design, LAN Furnishing, Sherwin Williams, Johnson Painting, and Design Window Solutions for their donations to the new project.

ABC, WCIU TV, Telemundo, Univision, and Windy City were all at the teen center’s grand opening and it was a great way for us to showcase how we are helping the community and the kids that need us most!  Make sure to check out WCIU’s awesome clip from the big unveiling last Monday!
