What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A DAF works like a charitable investment account. You contribute to your DAF at a sponsoring organization and receive an immediate tax acknowledgment from that sponsor. Over time, you can recommend grants from your DAF to nonprofits you care about, such as Union League Boys & Girls Clubs.
In short, a DAF lets you set aside charitable dollars today and decide later how to distribute them.
Why give through a DAF?
- Simplicity. One account can support many nonprofits.
- Flexibility. Recommend grants now, later, or on a recurring schedule.
- Tax benefits. You receive a tax acknowledgment when you contribute to the DAF. Many sponsors accept appreciated assets like stock.
- Impact. Your grant helps provide academic support, mentorship, meals, leadership programs, and safe spaces for Chicago’s youth.

Log in to your DAF
If you already have a DAF, use the links below to sign in and recommend a grant to Union League Boys & Girls Clubs.
If your provider is not listed, enter our legal name and EIN when making your recommendation.
What to expect after you recommend a grant
- Processing time. Most sponsors issue grants within 2 to 10 business days.
- Delivery. Grants are typically sent as checks or ACH payments directly to Union League Boys & Girls Clubs from the sponsoring organization.
- Acknowledgment. Because you receive a tax acknowledgment from your DAF sponsor, ULBGC does not issue a tax receipt. We will send a thank you if your sponsor shares your name with us. If your grant is anonymous, you can still notify us privately.
Planning ideas for your DAF giving
- Set recurring monthly or quarterly grants for steady support.
- Plan ahead for year-end since many sponsors have December deadlines.
- Add a dedication in your DAF portal for memorial or honor gifts.
- Consider contributing appreciated assets to your DAF, then recommending a grant to ULBGC.
- Name ULBGC as a beneficiary of your DAF to continue your charitable impact.
